Hi Angella, I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems.

You don't say how old you are, but I want to reassure you that you may not be addicted to sex at all. People's sexual desire varies enormously, and who is to say what is 'excessive' or not, anyway.

The main thing that I get from your post is that it worries you a lot, and so that makes it a problem, for you.

Your sexual drive may or may not be a problem, but the fact that you worry about it, is making it a problem.

It is common for young people to masturbate every day, and fantasize about sex too. But no one normally talks about their sexual drive, so most people have no idea what is 'normal' and what is 'abnormal'.

It is common for people to think that they are somehow different to everyone else, even when everyone else is doing exactly the same things, but in private and keeping quiet about it.

But because your sexual drive is bothering you, you should try to get some help.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you can't have sex because you are in province. Maybe you could explain what you mean?

But anyway, try to find a health professional or phone a Help line and find someone to give you some advice.

Don't confide in your friends or people with no professional knowledge of sexual problems. Their advice will be unreliable, and they will probably label you and gossip about you to your other friends. No one wants that.

Good luck and tell us how you go.

Hi Pascal, I haven't seen that film so I can't comment on any specific ideas it suggests. What I would say is this: this is a documentary-STYLE movie - and is therefore fiction - not fact - written by people who want to make money from their box office sales.

I cannot stress strongly enough that anyone/everyone who wants to learn evidence-based facts about any medical or psychological condition, should base their opinions and actions, on the information and advice of qualified, health professionals.

I have never heard of 'peptides' (you don't say what chemicals these ones really are) causing addiction or have any role in the treatment of addiction.

So unless and until, I see some evidence-based research linking Peptides (that word could mean anything) and Addiction, I won't believe it. And I advise other people to do the same.

However, thanks for Commenting. It's useful for everyone to understand that there are millions of opinions about everything, everywhere.... but, please, don't believe ANY of them unless you have hard evidence to prove or disprove any particular theory.

Especially when it is about anything medical. It's not enough to say, 'So and so said that, therefore it is true'. Not in movies, not in newspapers or magazines, and not at the water cooler.

There are plenty of people around who will try to exploit others, especially if they think they can make a buck out of it. And there is no scam easier than telling someone with a problem that some 'thing' will fix it.

Always remember, that even if you trust a friend, that friend could have got their 'information' from an unreliable source.

In matters of health: stick with the professionals - and get a second opinion if you want to be double-y safe.

Hi Carol.

Watching the documentary "what the blip do we know", Peptides seems to be tens of times more addictive than opium itself. Found at http://www.whatthebleep.com/. Emotions seems to be addictive by themselves. So imagine a drug addiction that is triggered by emotion craving....
Who is first, emotion addiction from the peptides or the active compound of a drug ?
Hard to tell....

Working in healthcare you see all aspects of addiction from initial symptoms to diagnosis and through the recovery process. Education of the visible symptoms and treatments of addiction are key to start fixing the problem, and by doing so reducing our healthcare costs.

I agree Owen, if you only consider, what is the best way to achieve Recovery. But sometimes the availability, cost and social/personal outcomes of being taken out of the community are disadvantage of Residential Rehab.

Of course, it's always great if you can achieve Recovery. But if you were previously in a well paid job, with a mortgage and a family to support, and you lose your job, and house, as a result of going into extended Residential Rehab, these are big risk factors for falling back into addiction as soon as you try to re-establish your place in society.

IF you can find, and afford, Residential Rehab, and your 'outside life' doesn't disintegrate as a result of job losses etc, then Residential Rehab would be better.

Sometimes, life is more complicated than that.

It's always important to remember that we are dealing with real people, with real lives, not just statistical outcomes.

Hi guys. Always interesting to read peoples opinions on this topic. I have a blog which summarizes why private residential treatment is better. The short answer is essentially that people from residential treatment are less likely to relapse.
